Introducing Tara Barry: Q&A with our new CHRO

We're thrilled to introduce Tara Barry, our new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Koolen Industries.

With over 25 years of global HR experience across various industries, Tara brings a diverse and rich background to our team. We look forward to working with Tara as we continue to grow the Koolen Industries group.

Tara chatted with us about her first impressions and her personal mission within the team.

Thanks for speaking with us Tara! We’re delighted to have you here. Can you please begin by introducing yourself and telling us what you do at Koolen Industries?

T: I joined Koolen Industries in November as the first Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This is a new role for the company which demonstrates the importance of the Human Capital agenda for the company. My role will be focusing on scaling our existing Group Companies and supporting our growth aspirations. The role is a mix of operational (building up the HR infrastructure) and strategic (delivering on an ambitious Talent agenda whilst we scale up ourselves).

I have worked in HR for over 25 years on a global scale in a variety of industries, such as

technology, financial services, and management consulting. The last few years I have been working in a consulting capacity and my last role was as the CHRO for a European Pharmaceutical company.

You have a wealth of experience across many industries, what was it that inspired you to come and work for Koolen Industries?

T: During my interview process, I had the opportunity to meet not only my fellow Board members but also many colleagues working in the businesses. I was impressed by the passion and engagement that is almost universally expressed by people working for Koolen Industries. This is not just a job, it is a mission.

That’s great to hear. You mention it being ‘a mission’ and we agree. Why do you think the energy transition is so important?

T: For me this is simple, if we do not accelerate to clean energy, we are jeopardizing the future of the next generations.

Besides actively contributing to the energy transition, what do you enjoy about working for Koolen Industries?

T: The openness and entrepreneurial spirit.

Can you describe the Koolen Industries team in one word?

T: Ambitious

Sounds like you’ve already experienced the true spirit of the Koolen Industries team! How do you find that the Koolen Industries team works together?

T: I appreciate that face-to-face meetings are highly valued. We work in a hybrid manner, but there is still a strong personal culture amongst the team.

We're glad to hear you have experienced the positive team culture already. With that in mind, what qualities do you think are important to be a successful part of the Koolen Industries team?

T: This is an organization that is committed to being at the forefront of the energy transition.

Ambition and drive are integral to succeeding in our mission.

If you could say one thing to people thinking about applying to work at Koolen Industries, what would it be?

T: This is an environment that is changing daily. People who will be successful in supporting our mission will be good with ambiguity and have the internal drive to push things forward. It is a very special environment and for individuals that thrive in such a setting, it is an amazing place to work.

Thanks Tara! We wish you all the best in your new role.
